INTERCESSOR'S GUIDE: PRAYER FOR FAMILIES

Picture
In the heart of God, the issue of the family is central. And with the different malaise harassing families, God is more than willing to cause families to function properly.

God sought for a family in Abraham, through which he would build a new nation called Israel. That nation became the vehicle for bringing forth his son, Jesus, the saviour of the world, thereby fulfilling God’s eternal purpose on the earth.

Prayer focus for the family should include
       1. PURPOSE DISCOVERY (Proverbs 29:18, 1Timothy 2:1-6).
A family, under God is unique in the essence and purpose. Without vision (the origin of purpose) the people perish. To discover the will of God for each member of the family and the family as a whole, greatly reduces friction, nips potential conflicts in the bud, and ushers in the peace of God.

The man must discover his purpose, the wife also; the single parent and the children inclusive; and even the no parent family.

The primary purpose of God is for all men to be saved. To call all to be saved, in the place of prayer, is definitely the way to start when praying about purpose discovery for individual family.

      2. DEATH PREVENTION (Hebrews 2:14-15, Psalm 91:1-16, Romans 8:2).
The unbridled reign of the spirit of death does no good to none. The manifestation of death comes in the shape of lingering illnesses, untimely deaths through accidents, and unexplainable death recurrence across the family line.

He that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. God wants to show himself forth to all families as the ultimate protector, breaking the hold of the spirit of death on families. The forces of the spirit of life is available curtail the spirit of death.

      3. FINANCIAL PROVISION (John 3:8, Psalms 23:1).
The spirit of poverty is a thing that we don’t have to succumb to. A spirit is the wind that influences. A family caught in the web of poverty would have truncated potentials and frustrated members. To lack is never a preferred position even from the standpoint of scriptures, where we found King David saying – the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. The Lord wants to show himself to families as shepherd, as provider.
