SPENDING MORE TIME IN PRAYER

Picture
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, he went out and departed to solitary place and there prayed. Mark 1:35.

Ithank God for your life that you want to pray. But that is not enough. More is the name of the game. Your life must be put on the line as you pursue God in the place of prayer. The prayer time is a walk with God. He takes you up on the journey of transformation, of inspiration, of enlightenment and up into the heavenlies. That needs the strength of a horse and the agility of an eagle. This vigour is formed in the crucible of passion after God and the priority of his presence in your thoughts and life.

Even though we are seeking the God we cannot see, we seek him using time and space. God’s glory answers to those who value it. God does not want to throw his pearls to dogs. How much value do you place on the presence and power of God in your life? This will determine how much time you are willing to put into praying. How much of physical comfort you are ready to do without to enter into the holies of God.

Space is also important in aiding you to spend more time in prayer. This includes your posture which you should vary from time to time in the same prayer session to break the monotony. A heart dedicated to God is the basic raw material needed to pray more. But that needs to be translated to deliberately separating chunks of time apart to building up your relationship with God in the secret place of prayer.

The time you spend in prayer shows whether God is central in your personal life or if he is just a crutch.
