FROM MIRY CLAY TO SOLID ROCK

Picture
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. Psalms 40:1-2.

Poverty, sicknesses, family conflicts, incessant oppositions, incessant failures, and depression- all these represent miry clay. To be in miry clay is to be in a situation where all avenues for respite have been exhausted and instead of a little relief, the situation gets worse. To be in a miry-clay situation is never palatable, in that year in year out things goes from bad to worse. The very effort to help yourself throws you into further pandemonium.

The resolution is in the God who has the key to unlock all doors, the genius to unravel all mysteries and the wherewithal to deal with all nutty situations. Only he can do this. Start by knowing that you are not alone. Begin to acknowledge that God is very much with you even though it doesn’t seem like that. Since you can’t call on the God you think is far away from you with any depth of assurance. Take note that the presence of trouble does not mean that God has gone on vacation. Remember Job.

The key is patience, to wait on God to rescue, and persistence to call on God with continual determination. The door is not closed to your break-free from the sinking feeling of the miry clay time in your life. You will not die in that situation. When your story is written, it would end with your feet firmly placed on the solid rock. It’s not over until you win. Embrace the sunshine in prayer and let the darkness fly away that you might see God’s way out for you from the miry clay to the solid rock.
