FAMILY PRAYER
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in their midst. Matthew 18:20.
Praying together as a family is the practice of a home collectively acknowledging God as the true head of the house. The destiny of a family is actualized by happenings in the life of the individual members. And the correct happenings can be set in motion through the means of prayer and the wrong ones repelled.
Just as individual members of a family are connected to each other, each should also foster a stronger relationship with God. This would make interrelationship among the members to take off in a new dimension.
The only basis of family prayer is a relationship with God by individual members. Ideally, the focal point of family prayer is the husband, under Christ. The man in relationship with God must seek to bring others into the same.
The very act of praying together fosters unity in the home, drawing the atmosphere of heaven into it. This unity draws God’s blessings.
Various matters that represent the need of the family will, at the family prayers, find a full avenue to be expressed to God. And the force of unity will give more wind to sail of the prayers. Praying together at home will model to the children the importance and efficacy of prayer. These children will then be primed to be lights in their generation.
Further readings: Psalm 133:1-3, Philippians 4:6 and 1 Corinthians 11:3.
